Creamy Protein Custard!

  • 2 cups milk 
  • 1/4 cup OSOAA protein powder (flavor of your choice)
  • 3 large egg yolks

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  • In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until it's warm but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
  • While the milk is heating, whisk together the egg yolks, protein powder, sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt in a separate bowl. Make sure the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Once the milk is warm, slowly pour about 1/2 cup of the warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly. 
  • Gradually add the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining warm milk, stir continuously.
  • Place the saucepan back on the stove over medium heat. Cook the mixture while constantly stirring with a wooden spoon.
  • Cook until the custard thickens and coats the back of the spoon. This might take around 5-7 minutes. Do not let the mixture boil; keep the heat at a gentle simmer.
  • Once the custard has thickened, remove the saucepan from heat. If you notice any lumps, strain the custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl to achieve a smooth texture.
  • Allow the custard to cool slightly before covering it with plastic wrap, ensuring the plastic touches the surface of the custard to prevent a skin from forming.
  • Refrigerate the custard for at least 2-3 hours, or until it's thoroughly chilled and set.
  • Once chilled, give the custard a good stir to ensure it's well mixed. Spoon the creamy custard into serving bowls.
  • Top your protein custard with your choice of fresh berries, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut for an extra burst of flavor and texture.
